Choosing the Right Lawn Mower
There are a few things to consider when you are choosing your lawn mower. The size of lawn will start to narrow down your search. For example a lawn the size of a football pitch would require a ride on mower or a large pedestrian machine.
The quality and finish of cut will be your next decision. If you like a striped lawn with a bowling green finish you will need a cylinder mower with a roller, but if your lawn has the odd lump or bump in it you would be wise to choose a rotary with a roller as a cylinder mower cuts best on a level area. For a standard finish a wheeled rotary would be the tool for the job. Another option to consider for the larger pedestrian mower would be powered drive to the wheels/roller. This will greatly reduce the effort required to finish the job. Generally most lawn mowers will have a grass box or bag to collect the clippings which need emptying regularly. A mower that has a mulching option will cut the clippings finer allowing you to leave them to feed your lawn.
For smaller lawns you have the option of electric mowers, these can have some advantages over petrol/diesel engines as well as disadvantages
